Becoming “Spanish Magicians”
Many years ago, during a lecture tour of Spain where I performed in fifteen cities over three weeks, I experienced a revelation about the art of magic. The Spanish magic community approached the craft with a level of camaraderie and mutual critique that was invigorating. Unlike the American magic clubs I was familiar with, where performances were generally applauded irrespective of quality, Spanish magicians were honest and constructive, providing critique and feedback aimed at mutual improvement.
Inspired by this approach, I introduced this ethos to the team at See Magic Live. Our new motto became "Be Like Spanish Magicians". We decided to focus on providing and receiving honest, constructive feedback to help each of us grow as individual artists. This led to a transformation in our team dynamic, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
